Afternoon Tea at The Jetty Restaurant

by

Last month I was invited, along with other Brighton bloggers, to visit the Harbour Hotel for afternoon tea. The hotel is situated right on the seafront with stunning views of the beach. It’s actually been on my radar for a while after one opened in Guildford. Before sitting down for afternoon tea we were given a tour of the hotel, restaurant and spa. One of the first things I noticed (apart from the nautical theme) was the decor. There were lots of film posters on the walls which I really liked. The restaurant also had a nice open kitchen which I like. I’m pretty nosey so being able to peek into the kitchen and see everyone at work is always fun.

If you are looking for a hotel to stay in, then definitely check out the Harbour. The rooms were amazing, and the beds looked super comfy. The view from the rooms along the front is stunning, especially when the sun is shining. You also get complimentary gin and sherry in the rooms! How awesome is that?! That definitely beats your normal tea and coffee. The rooms are all slightly different, both in terms of layout and decor, some even had bunk beds for families.

Just look at that view of sea!

After a tour of the rooms we headed down into the depths of the hotel to see the spa and gym. Let me just say I could have easily spent all day down there. Just from the atmosphere I felt relaxed, and that was without even having any treatments! Whilst they were refurbishing the hotel they actually discovered old smuggling tunnels that went through to the beach. So the spa is set in a massive warren of tunnels. As you turn each corner a different section comes into view. From hot tubs to saunas to cosy little nooks you can relax in, it all seemed lovely. A little hint they actually do gift vouchers for treatments and days at the spa which are perfect for the busy mum.

By now I was ready for the main event – afternoon tea. We were seated in the snug, set back from the main restaurant and cocktail bar. The menu was the sort of thing you would expect from an afternoon tea. Sandwiches, wraps, scones and mini cakes but with a few surprises. The main one being the bacon jam with the cheese scone. I never thought I would find myself asking for more bacon jam! But it was really yummy.

If you are looking for a hotel with those little extras or somewhere for a yummy afternoon tea, I can definitely recommend The Harbour Hotel.

* I was invited to afternoon tea for the purpose of this review but all words and views are my own.
