Blogging and Life Goals for 2016

2016 lightbox I am not one for making resolutions, I don’t really see the point in them. When I have made them in the past I’ve usually broken them by the end of the first week of January anyway! However I really want to make some progress with my blogging and life so I’ve decided on some goals I would like to achieve by the end of the year.

Blogging – I want to do it more. I would love to post more frequently, write about things I like doing, things we’ve seen and done. I started this blog just when Clem was born, I ignored it for a long time and started posting more regularly about March last year. When I started I didn’t tell anyone, I wasn’t sure if anyone would be interested in it so I am amazed that people even read my blog, it’s not many but still, thank you. I really like doing it but I struggle with finding time which leads nicely onto…

Being more organised – I will admit I love to plan. I need to plan, so the fact I don’t do it when it comes to blogging and social media is silly. I’m going to invest in a planner, and get organised. Write more posts, schedule them. I have loads in my drafts, I just need to finish them. I also want to organise my house better. Over Christmas it’s become a mess. Clem got a lot of new toys, and they are everywhere. We need to get her some better storage for it all. If anyone can recommend somewhere that does good storage for toys please let me know! My desk is also a big mess which doesn’t help so over the next week I am planning on tidying it and sorting it out.

Increase page views and social media followings – I am rubbish at social media. I made a Facebook page but I never post to it, I love twitter but I don’t really promote my blog. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good conversation and I don’t want my feed to be full of promos but a little might be a good idea. I also want to carry on taking part in the #pbloggers chat on a sunday night as I really like that. I need to do more on Facebook, I joined a few groups which I would love to get more involved in. I hope that be doing some of this might result in more page views. I don’t want to get too obsessed with numbers but just a few more would be nice. I currently only have 257 followers on twitter which is not many, so I would love a few more. If you are over there feel free to say hello!

Photography – I love taking photos. We recently got a fairly decent DSLR which I would love to use more. I mainly take photos on my iPhone 6 which actually has a really good camera but being able to use a proper camera would be nice. I also love my film cameras and would like to use those more. I love Instagram and I am always posting on there, I would love to get somewhere near to 500 followers on there by the end of the year. I’m currently at 194 so that might seem a little bit too ambitious.

Try and socialize more – I am not a very confident person, I find social situations a bit scary at times, especially when it’s people I don’t know. I would love to become a bit more confident and less shy. Not just for me but for Clem. I don’t really have many other mum friends and this is something I would like to change. Sometimes I feel bad because she doesn’t go to anything, which is why I am happy that she is going to nursery a couple of mornings a week. It means she can play with other kids and I don’t have to feel bad.

Do more – exercise, tidying, cleaning, arts and crafts, reading, just do more things in general. I suffer from hypothyroidism which means I am tired a lot. I just need the motivation to do more.

Cook better/more things – I got a great recipe book for my birthday, it’s full of great looking vegetarian recipes and it looks fab. We have loads of recipe books, I love looking at them. I also need to use the slow cooker more. We recently made chicken fajitas in ours which I will be posting about soon as they were super yummy and so easy to do.

Try and learn a new skill/hobby. Clem goes to nursery two mornings a week which means I have a few hours to myself so instead of wasting that time I’m going to learn something. I’m not sure what yet but hopefully soon I will!

Has anyone else set themselves any goals or resolutions for the year? I really hope I can achieve some if not all of these.

I have some similar ones – get organized, isn’t that one of the big issues we all have to face!?

We’d love to learn a new skill this year… maybe coding or something! See Fisher Price has bought out a toy to help with that for kids. Don’t worry about the blog, you’re doing a great job and we think it’s fab. The followers will come x #TheList

I think you’ve set yourself some really great goals! I want to do more too – I struggle with motivation but it’s something I’ve been working on over the past few months and I always feel so much better once I’ve got things done! Good luck with them all xx
