I’ll admit the moment I see the Christmas lights going up I turn into an excited child all over again. Brighton looks so pretty, even in the rain, with all the twinkly lights up. I took a little walk around the city centre in my new raincoat, which is actually my first proper coat in absolutely ages! It’s perfect for the school run, walks on the beach, trips to the park or walking around Brighton taking photos. Obviously I had to get it in pink as well. Always dopamine dressing.
I will admit the lack of traditional Christmas tree in Churchill Square this year is a shame, but despite what others have said, I actually like the abstract panels. However the Christmas lights in the Lanes more than make up for it. Hanningtons has really done a great job this year, and I really liked the little globes. Plus the window display competition that Brilliant Brighton are running is such a great idea. If you are local, definitely take a stroll through Kensington Gardens or Dukes Lane to see some great displays.
Shop local
In previous years I have always tried to squeeze in a trip to London to see the Christmas lights there as well, but due to work this year I don’t think I will be able to manage it. But I did manage to make my annual trip to the Etsy Christmas fair, it’s one of my favourites to visit. The local makers are all so friendly and put on a great event. I picked up a few little things whilst I was there but it’s all Christmas present related so I can’t post just yet!
If you are still looking for last minute Christmas presents and want to support a local artist/maker then the stanley road store is just the place. It is situated in the Lanes just around the corner from Lush.
