I can’t believe I am only just getting around to writing this. My birthday was back in November now, and to celebrate Jesse took me out for a special lunch. Brighton and Hove are both home to many amazing restaurants but I knew exactly where I wanted to go. Cin Cin is somewhere I’ve been wanting to try for so long, and it did not disappoint.
Originally starting as a pop up champagne and nibbles van, (which is actually parked just around the corner from us) there are now 2 restaurants. One in the centre of Brighton on Vine Street, and the other at the Hove end of Western Road. We decided to head to the Hove one as this is closest to us. Although Jesse has been to the one in Vine Street as well, we just needed to be able to pick Clem up from school.
It was a pretty quiet lunch time and we had the pick of where to sit around the main bar. I really like it when you can see your food being prepared and Cin Cin offers just that.
One thing that I didn’t realise is that they had a lunch deal on – 2 courses or £15 or 3 or £20. We both decided on just 2, although Jess was really tempted by the special dessert – beeramisu. Yep a tiramisu but made with beer instead. I decided on burrata to start, with a mushroom pasta for my main. Jess had the sqiud started and rabbit main. We also had a few nibbles to start including olives and focaccia with extra virgin olive oil. I am not lying when I say this was probably the best focaccia and olive oil I have ever had.
My burrata starter was creamy and delicious. Jess had this when he went to the Vine Street one, and hasn’t stopped talking about it. So when I saw it on the menu I knew I had to try it. He wasn’t that keen on sharing his squid as it was so crispy and tasty but I managed to sneak a try and it was really good. Now this where I am a terrible blogger as I have forgotten what I actually had and I didn’t take a photo of the menus, however it was mushrooms and pasta which was delicious. Jesse main of rabbit was pretty good as well, and popular. Two other people ordered it whilst we were eating as well.
As a fan of pasta and italian food Cin Cin did not disappoint. I will definitely go back. They have different menus for each restaurant, with the one in the centre concentrating more on small plates. I’ve also just noticed they have a January best menu which is 3 courses plus fizz for £20. We might have to check that out for Jesses birthday later this month!
