A Day Out at Battersea Park Childrens Zoo

by

Last month it was Clems 2nd birthday so we decided to head to the zoo. She absolutely loves animals, monkeys being her favourite. We originally thought of London Zoo but with it being summer holidays and a rather warm day, we decided against it. Instead we went to Battersea Park Childrens Zoo.

I absolutely love going to London, especially the parks. We usually go to Hyde Park or Regents Park so this was a nice change. Having only been to Battersea Park once to take part in a 5k race, I wasn’t that familiar with the zoo. I found out about it through the days out website where you can get 2 for 1 entry when you travel by train. It cost us just £8.95 to enter and I have to say it’s great for anyone under 7. Older kids might get a bit bored, or want more exciting animals.

It’s not very big compared to London Zoo. However this makes it ideal for little ones who might get tired quite quickly. It has a variety of animals and birds including monkeys, meerkats, parrots, chickens, otters and pigs. There is also a mouse house which was super cute. We spotted a pile of baby mice all sleeping on a log. Whenever anyone walked past the window, all you could hear were squeals and “aww”. There are a lot of play areas so when children get bored with looking at the animals they can tire themselves out on that! Which is exactly what Clem did. She loved it. We also stopped in the cafe for lunch as we forgot to take our own. I usually find cafes/restaurants in attractions to be really over priced but this one wasn’t. It was actually good, quality food including a great kids box with healthy snacks!

Battersea Park is actually massive! If you are ever in the area I definitely recommend a visit. As well as the zoo there are loads of other family friendly activities. Play areas, fountains, a lake where you can hire boats and loads of green space to have a picnic or an ice cream. We also saw lots of people on recumbent bikes which looked really fun but the queue for them was massive!

  2. Happy Birthday Clem!! The zoo looks great – I hope she had a lovely time! Our favourite park in London at the moment is Clissold Park in Stoke Newington – it’s got a great playground for kids and the area is so lovely xx
