It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, so I figured it was about time for an update. Life has been getting in the way of blogging over the last month and I must confess to failing my 30 Day Blogging Challenge miserably. In fact I think I made it 4 days into it and stopped. Blogging every day is hard. I seriously take my hat off to anyone who can do it. But it’s not for me. Twice, possibly 3 times a week maybe but not every day. It’s also made me realise I need to be more organised, but that’s a whole other post.
Clem has completed her first term at pre-school, and has now gone back after her first Easter Holidays. We survived the holidays – just. Luckily the weather was pretty great for most of her time off so we managed to get out quite a bit. We also did our first ever Easter egg hunt. Jesse hid the eggs all over the garden and the house for her to find. She absolutely loved hunting around trying to find them all.
Gotta find them all
As well as the egg hunt we spent some time with friends, including a trip to London for a birthday. We actually spent time as a couple, with friends out OUT! Our friends girlfriend had organised a surprise birthday for our friend which included an escape room. None of us had ever done one before, but I think we would all do one again. It was great fun, although I was pretty rubbish at solving the clues. She picked Time Run in East London, we all arrived outside a warehouse with two doors and bells. You had to ring the bell as the exact time you were given otherwise they wouldn’t let you in.
We were greeted by a very well spoken man, who led us into a room from the Victorian times. Straight away I was impressed by the set and props. The guy kept in character all throughout the introduction which was really impressive. We jumped through portals, finding gold discs and various other items to power the time machine. It was a really fun way to spend an hour. If you have been thinking of doing an escape room then do it. We are already planning a trip to one in Brighton soon. The rest of the day was spent in a gaming bar in Dalston. It was full of retro consoles, board games and more.
During the Easter break we also took a little trip to the New Forest. It was quite spontaneous and not planned at all but it was great and just what we all needed. It was also our first time camping as a family! We went with Jesse’s brother and his partner and it was lovely. The New Forest is absolutely beautiful and somewhere none of us had ever been before. We camped in Ashurst, so literally right on the edge of the forest but it was perfect.
Travel not to escape life, but so life doesn’t escape you
The campsite had a shower block with super warm showers. There were ponies and cows roaming free all over the site. The only downside was the weather, it was absolutely freezing!! During the day it was fine but as soon as it started getting dark out came the layers and blankets. We spent two days camping, exploring the forest and just relaxing. We had no way of charging our phones so there was no social media, no blogging – just enjoying our surroundings and company. Clem loved it. She is a completely outdoorsy child and was at home climbing over trees and stomping through the forest.
Brighton comes alive at this time of year, and there is always something going on. The Foodies Festival Brighton happened a few weekends ago and I was lucky enough to win tickets on twitter. It was a great weekend, full of yummy food. Check out my post for the full lowdown on what we got up to. I’ve also been featured on two different blogs!
The first was over on Pushing the Moon as part of her bloggers Spotify playlist. Mine is nu-metal/teen angst-tastic and features many of my favourite songs. The second one was over on My Random Musings as part of her blogger spotlight interview series. I love the idea of this series as it gives a chance for newer bloggers to gain some exposure. It’s for blogs under 6 months old, which as we all know is a difficult time to get readers/viewers. Over the next few weeks we have more exciting things coming up which I can’t wait to share with everyone.
