What I’ve Been Watching Recently

by

It’s no secret that I like to watch TV. I’ve done several posts on my favourite TV shows/movies before which you can find here. I haven’t done one for a while, so this is what I’ve been watching recently. Usually I watch a lot of Netflix/Amazon Prime shows but not this time. Most of these are just on the good old normal TV.

Masterchef – BBC1

It’s back, and I’ve never been so happy. I absolutely love watching this, and not just for the food. Nope, I love seeing how excited Gregg gets over a bit of chocolate. He always looks so happy when someone announces they are doing a pudding. I’ve watched this for years now. It’s actually quite depressing when the former contestants come back on and I realise it’s been 5+ years since they were on it. But I won’t stop watching. I usually have a favourite but so far I haven’t for this series.

24 hours in police custody – Channel 4

This programme blows me away every week it’s on. It normally only runs for a few episodes – 6 at the most I think. So it’s not on a lot, however it is definitely worth watching. Going behind the scenes of the Bedfordshire and Luton Police, each week focuses on a different case. Each episode shows the police trying to prove a crime, usually within the 24 hour period they have to hold a suspect. This series actually finished this week but if there are any available on demand then I recommend checking them out.

ER – CBS Drama

Whilst browsing through the channels available on Virgin the other night I came across this one. It was a Sunday night and it was showing 5 episodes of ER. It also happened to be the beginning of season 1! When I was younger I used to watch ER all the time. If I’m remembering correctly it used to be on channel 4, at about 10 or 11pm. It was almost definitely past my bedtime so I used to put the volume down low. It’s now become my favourite way to spend a Sunday evening.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story – BBC 2

This is the second season of American Crime Story now, the first being all about OJ Simpson. I really enjoyed the first, so I was looking forward to a second season. This one is based on a book about the assassination of Gianni Versace. It stars Darren Criss, as Andrew Cunanan, the man responsible for killing Versace and others. It has already aired in America, but over here it’s up to episode 5.

So far I am enjoying it. It’s dark, and definitely a different role for Darren Criss. I was a fan of Glee so I am used to seeing him singing and dancing as a Warbler, not killing people with hammers!

Queer Eye – Netflix

Ok so I am cheating a little as this one is on Netflix but oh my god! My friend Rhia told me about this, after she binge watched it when it first came out. I then saw several people on Instagram/twitter talking about it so I put the first episode on whilst I was supposed to be working. That plan soon went out the window and I had watched the first two episodes. I could not stop. I love all the guys and want them to makeover me!

Every guy they make over looks so different, but it’s not just about looks. The Fab 5 help them gain confidence without putting them down. They help sort out their homes, help their friends and family. They teach them to cook. I think I cried on every single episode, although I did watch them in the week before my period so my emotions were all over the place. But still. It’s so good. If you have a subscription to Netflix then you should definitely be watching this. Season 2 has just been confirmed which cannot come soon enough.

Ru Paul’s Drag Race S10 and All Stars 3

All Stars 3 might have finished but season 10 of Drag Race started straight after. I actually thought this season of All Stars was actually a little dull. It seemed pretty obvious from the start that Bendela was going to win, but after the shock self-elimination, I thought it was either going to be Shangela or Trixie. Hopefully I haven’t ruined it for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet. It feels a little mean to say this but at first I didn’t care much for Shangela or Kennedy. But by the end of the season I really grew to like both of them.

Season 10 only started last week, so I can’t really comment on any of them at the moment. However, the first episode was good, it was nice to see the mini challenges back and past girls feature throughout the episode.

So that’s what I’ve been watching recently. Is there anything that you think I should check out? I am always up for watching new shows.
