5 TV shows to watch on Netflix

by

Please forgive me, I have a confession to make. I am a tv addict. A big tv addict. Before Clem was born I spent a lot of time watching tv. American teen shows were always my go-to. However, since having Clem I got super behind. I still haven’t finished The Vampire Diaries which I was really obsessed with. I am hoping that the final season comes onto Netflix soon. Now she is older and sleeps during the evening we can watch all the things we either missed or has started. I’ve already done one of these before. So I thought I would do an update on what we are watching now.

Better Call Saul

Even though it took me quite a while to get into Breaking Bad I loved it in the end. So when they announced a spin-off I was excited as Saul Goodman was one of my favourites from Breaking Bad. This would finally give us the chance to see how he became the man he is. Three seasons in and it hasn’t disappointed yet. More characters from Breaking Bad are starting to appear and the two shows are slowly becoming more entwined. If you liked Breaking Bad but haven’t watched this then you should.

Game of Thrones (not Netflix)

Oh my gosh, I am so excited for this to start again! Game of Thrones is one of my favourite tv shows ever! I get that it’s not for everyone. There is a lot of violence, blood and nudity, and it’s definitely not one to watch around little ones. I cannot wait to see what season 7 brings us. I’ve actually tried to avoid any trailers, despite posting the one above. It’s not on Netflix but if you have NOW tv then series 1-6 is available but only until the end of the month.

I’ve actually written about this before so I won’t go into too much detail here. But my next pick is 13 Reasons Why. I personally think it’s a must watch for teens and parents. But check out my post for more, although it does contain spoilers.

Sons of Anarchy

I have a small confession to make here, I have only seen the first two seasons, but it has been on my list for so long to watch. I actually own seasons 1-5 on Blu-ray, and I still haven’t watched them! Now that all of them are on Netflix I really have no excuse not to watch them. Following the lives of a close-knit outlaw motorcycle group, SAMCRO, the main themes are redemption, brotherhood and loyalty.

GLOW

Aka Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. One of my best friends was until recently the champion of Pro-Wrestling Eve. Unfortunately, due to an injury sustained during a match, she is now out for a year. She is a complete badass and I would not mess with her. Through her, I’ve got quite into it and have been to see a few shows. Check out the trailer and see if you think it looks good.

House of Cards

This is another series that I have been wanting to watch for a long time but just never got round to. Kevin Spacey is one of my favourite actors and he is excellent in this. Set in Washington, D.C., House of Cards is the story of Congressman Frank Underwood, a Democrat from South Carolina’s 5th congressional district and House Majority Whip. After being passed over for appointment as Secretary of State, he initiates an elaborate plan to get himself into a position of greater power, aided by his wife.

I’m only on the first season, and there are 5 in total so I don’t really know where this is going yet. But I’m enjoying it so far.

American Gods – Amazon video.

I am a big fan of Neil Gaiman so when I heard this was being made into a tv show I will admit to being a little sceptical. I wasn’t sure just how well the story would come across on-screen. Series 1 is 8 episodes long, and it tells the story of a modern world on the verge of a clash between deities old and new.

If you haven’t read the book you will probably find the show confusing. Even if you have read the book you might be the same. It doesn’t do a lot of explaining, it just goes head first into the story. But for me, the weirdest thing was getting used to the fact the main character – Shadowmoon, used to be in Hollyoaks and Footballers Wives!

Do you have a Netflix account? What’s your favourite thing to watch? I would love some more ideas as we are always on the look out for other things to watch.
